John MacArthur calls for Pope Francis to resign for teaching Catholicism

Sun Valley, CA

Conservative pastor and author, John MacArthur at a recent press conference called for Pope Francis to resign for continuing to allow his Cardinals and Priests to teach Catholicism. “Teaching faith plus works for salvation is a whole lot worse than what they did to those poor boys.” MacArthur said with a scowl on his face when asked about the recent Pennsylvania revelations. “Catholicism isn’t just a wayward denomination like the Episcopalians, it’s a satanic counterfeit. It’s a different religion.”  When asked by a reporter from if Pope Francis is a heretic, MacArthur responded tersely: “is the pope Catholic?”

The well known pastor and president of the Master’s Seminary instructed the reporters to turn to Romans 3:28. “I don’t have a Bible”, one brave reporter complained. “Well download a Bible app on your smartphone. Or Google it“, MacArthur retorted, clearly irritated. “For we hold that one is justified by faith apart from works of the law.” “Now quickly turn to Galatians 5:4”:  “You are severed from Christ, you who would be justified by the law; you have fallen away from grace.” “They’re clearly following Galatian heresy by teaching Catholic dogma and therefore anathema - now over to Galatians 1.  Read the entire chapter on your own time, for now just look at verse 8”: “But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed.” “The fact is, the most formidable relentless, and deceptive enemy in Satan’s long war on the truth has been Roman Catholicism. It’s an apostate, corrupt, heretical, false Christianity – a thinly veiled façade for the kingdom of Satan.”

The pontiff is under increasing pressure to resign for his possible role in the most recent pedophile scandal to plague the Catholic church. “They forbid priests to marry.” MacArthur said. “That’s 1st Timothy 4:3, right there in action. I mean, what did they expect!?”  “If they don’t have Christ, they don’t have the Holy Spirit either and they just can’t control themselves.”

At publishing time, a representative of the Roman Catholic church in Rome issued a brief response by quoting from the Council of Trent and (once again) anathematizing MacArthur, confirming the pastor’s accusations of Catholic doctrine. MacArthur wasn’t at all surprised and issued his own response calling all Catholics to repent of their dead works and believe the One True Gospel found in Holy Scripture.
